Google will launch the next Core Update in May 2020
Google has announced the next core update for May 2020 and there are indications that the core algorithm is already being updated. Many webmasters are curious if the worldwide Covid 19 events will have an impact on the update. The official Google Twitter account now gave a short hint about the upcoming update, just like the previous Core Updates that were rolled out since mid 2019.
According to Google, the complete update should be completed within up to 2 weeks. This time there is a premiere for Google in terms of search queries. The worldwide corona crisis had already made some modifications in April, when the search results had a much more local reference. Never before has Google had such a large number of search queries on one topic in such a short time and this spread over the whole globe.
Accelerated Mobile Pages and also not Accellerated Mobile Pages will appear in the top stories in the search results for Corona. Who would like to appear there otherwise still to a certain topic, that must use AMP’s necessarily. Websites with up-to-date and credible content will benefit greatly from the current core algorithm. For all other website operators there is no possibility to react to the update in the short term. We are monitoring numerous channels that document the reactions to this update and will inform you promptly about the effects found.
